Une école pour former de futurs citoyens européens

Our mission

The mission of the European School Lille Métropole: excellence, tolerance, respect and harmony

Educated side by side, untroubled from infancy by divisive prejudices, acquainted with all that is great and good in the different cultures, it will be borne in upon them as they mature that they belong together. Without ceasing to look to their own lands with love and pride, they will become in mind Europeans, schooled and ready to complete and consolidate the work of their fathers before them, to bring into being a united and thriving Europe.

Learning at a European school

EELM offers a multilingual and multicultural education to children living in the Lille metropolitan area. It prepares them for the European Baccalaureate.

The European education offered at the European School Lille Métropole aims at developing students’ knowledge of their national identity as well as their European citizenship by making them aware, beyond their differences, of what brings them together.

The European school stands for:

  • getting an education in a context of shared interest and diversity ;
  • working on common syllabuses ;
  • mastering several European languages ;
  • letting go from an early age of prejudices that divide people ;
  • introducing students to a variety of enriching cultures.

A new European School in France, located in Marcq-en-Baroeul, close to Lille, at the crossroads of Europe, the European School Lille Métropole completes the national network of “Schola Europeae” since the start of the 2019-2020 school-year.

Designed to welcome children and adolescents from nursery school to the European Baccalaureate, the European School Lille Métropole offers a multilingual and multicultural education that develops the autonomy of learners.

Faithful to the missions incumbent on the European Schools, the school community of the European School Lille Métropole takes care to develop the responsible, European citizenship spirit for young students while respecting the cultural and national identity of each. It is committed to providing excellence in education by strengthening the spirit of tolerance, dialogue, solidarity and respect.

Teachers of the English and French language sections assist students in acquiring linguistic, scientific, sports, social, civic and cultural skills. The project approach is an integral part of our educational policy; the cultural, sporting and artistic offer of the territory is an essential asset in the implementation of activities within the school.

The European School Lille Métropole prepares young people to flourish in a world in constant evolution.
